Equaflow can provide the perfect base to not only event arenas but also your indoor/outdoor arena, gallops and walkways. With no excavations necessary and manufactured from recycled material, this environmentally friendly base can be installed with minimal site levelling required.

The modular design offers excellent adaptability to cope with any terrain and the permavoid modular high strength plastic structural ‘blocks’ have a high tensile lateral interlocking tie arrangement to create a structurally competent raft. Equaflow provided the base for the 2012 London Olympics.

Equaflow water recycling system

Equaflow full bed water management

  • Highly consistent factory formed sub base

  • Minimal levelling of site base required

  • Large attenuation capacity available in order to withstand a 100 year storm event without compromising the surface layer. All discharge controlled and reused to irrigate surface, sent to storage or controlled discharge

  • Capable of storing water for other uses e.g. grassland irrigation, wash down areas, toilets

  • Wicking technology maintains optimum moisture content in the surfacing

  • Around a 20 fold reduction in truck cycles

  • Manufactured from recycled materials minimising environmental impact.

  • Modular design offers excellent adaptability to cope with any terrain by providing upfill where required utilising Permavoid modular high strength plastic structural ‘blocks’ that have a high tensile lateral interlocking tie arrangement to create a structurally competent raft.

Equaflow full bed infiltration

  • No excavations necessary - particularly important in sensitive areas e.g. World Heritage Sites.

  • Large attenuation capacity available in order to withstand a 100 year storm event without compromising the surface layer. All discharge allowed to infiltrate naturally to ground.

  • Around a 20-fold reduction in truck cycles minimising congestion and environmental impact compared to conventional drainage layers.

  • This overlay design ensures there is no long term damage to the existing grassed areas and prevents any high loads from overlying construction and maintenance plant from impacting on existing tree roots i.e. the system also provides root protection.

Ebb & Flow Irrigation System

The water – steered ebb and flow riding ground provides ideal conditions for horse and rider. The system is suitable for indoor and outdoor arenas. It provides ideal conditions for dressage, show jumping, driving, lunging rings and race tracks.
Thanks to the ingenious water balance of the system the ground gets never too wet or too dry. After heavy rain the puddles formed quickly disappear and even after a long dry period the footing never becomes dusty.

Advantages of an ebb and flow riding surface

  • no irrigation needed

  • easy to maintain

  • no puddles on outdoor riding rings, surplus water is drained automatically

  • adjustable ground stability

  • 100 % natural product

  • no high disposal costs

  • suitable for indoor and outdoor riding arenas

The stability of the riding ground depends on the water level inside the footing so it can be adjusted easily. The humidity of the riding ground is controlled permanently with a sensor and will automatically be adjusted.
